Hendall Manor Barns is a family-run venue down a lane in the High Weald near Maresfield. Three old farm buildings, the Stone Barn, the Old Dairy and the former calf pens (now the caterers’ kitchen), join up around a courtyard with a lawn and a raised terrace, and the grounds run out through orchards and past a pond to a long view south to the Downs.
Getting there from the apartment
Hendall is north of Lewes near Maresfield, about 13 miles: up the A26 through Uckfield, then a few minutes of country lanes. Allow 25 minutes, a little more on a Friday evening. The 29 bus from outside the door runs to Uckfield if some of your party would rather not drive.

The High Weald is beautiful and short of places for eight people to stay together. Lewes is the nearest proper town, and the apartment gives a wedding party what a scatter of B&Bs cannot: one big living room to gather in, a kitchen for a real breakfast, three bathrooms, and somewhere to leave the cars. Grandparents in one bedroom, parents in another, the cousins in the third.
