Accommodation near Michelham Priory for wedding guests
A moated medieval priory at Upper Dicker with seven acres of grounds and an Elizabethan wedding barn, twenty-five minutes from the apartment. The same code covers Sussex Past's weddings at Lewes Castle and Anne of Cleves House.
Michelham Priory is a moated medieval priory at Upper Dicker with seven acres of grounds: the house, lawns, an orchard, a kitchen garden, a courtyard garden and the Elizabethan barn where the weddings happen. It is run by Sussex Past, the charity that also looks after Lewes Castle and Anne of Cleves House, and the same partner code covers weddings at all three.
Getting there from the apartment
Michelham Priory is at Upper Dicker, about 13 miles east of Lewes: roughly 25 minutes along the A27 towards Polegate, then north through Upper Dicker. Straightforward, well signed, and an easy run back after the evening. For Lewes Castle, walk: it is at the top of the High Street, four minutes from the door. Anne of Cleves House is ten minutes on foot down Southover High Street.
Why guests stay with us for a Michelham wedding
The priory sits in quiet countryside with little accommodation of its own nearby. Lewes gives a wedding party a proper town to get ready in and to wake up in: three bathrooms so nobody is queuing for the shower at 11am, a big living room to pin corsages and open a bottle before the cars arrive, and restaurants, pubs and the castle for the morning after. Two parking spaces mean the designated drivers have somewhere to come back to.

★★★★★
“Stunning apartment with amazing views. Generous welcome pack too. We were in Lewes for a wedding so didn’t spend as much time in the apartment as we’d liked. It was a luxurious base for our 2 days.”
★★★★★
“Lovely flat and such a nice view from the main lounge windows! Very handy that air con unit and fans were provided in the hot weather. Very comfortable beds. Great location for us as we were attending a wedding within walking distance.”
★★★★★
“Well maintained, tastefully furnished, characterful property, in a great location with everything you need for a fantastic holiday! The comfy window seat with the amazing views was my favourite spot for relaxing with a coffee and a book.”
